It’s so easy to fall into an easy routine. I think we naturally—and subconsciously—look for the path of least resistance. Lately I’ve found myself slumping further into the couch at the end of the day, watching TV. Not really a big deal, but when it starts becoming your routine it might be time for a self-kick in the trousers.
I really haven’t invested any time on outside design projects. More than that, I haven’t dedicated time to simply look around and take it in. I love taking an hour out of my day and skimming through old design annuals, or even Flickr sets populated with posters or what not. Call it inspiration-finding. I don’t know. I’ve noticed I haven’t been doing any of that lately.
One project I started but never really pursued was collecting a “library” of sorts for design. One thing I’m lacking, and shame on me for this, is a great collection of patterns, textures, fonts, and found visuals. I love holding found type. Just archiving some nice things would really help me out. Alas, I let that go for the while.
I suppose it happens to everyone. We just want to be lazy on our off-time. Maybe this is more of a wake up call for me than casual reading for you, but I felt I needed to express my thoughts in the open. Thanks for listening.

Couldn't agree with you more, my off time is becoming more and more lazy, and often revolves around the television set.
I find a walk outside is the best, getting as far away from my computer as possible. I often find the creativity I draw from seeing people go about their everyday lives and watching nature just be can be more inspirational than studying a newspaper layout or a magazine spread.
