Inspirability
by PASH, Matt Pashkow
Given to me most graciously by my friend Heather, my nose has been buried in this book for a couple weeks now. Take 40 well-known designers, sit them down, and interview them about inspiration. Sounds simple. The answers are fantastic. I love learning how other designers find their inspiration. Great book for quick glances or long reads.

Craig Holden Feinberg. I met this designer in Miami 3 years back. Superb work. Good guy.
(06/29)CIA Jewels. Out there dangling in the breeze, baby.
(06/29)Ex-Apple designers speak up. Underlying threads here.
(06/29)Michael Moore interviewed outside the NYSE. There’s a man who knows what he’s talking about.
(06/29)Upside down. Guy’s got guts to take a shot. I’d drop my camera.
(06/28)Review of the iPhone, indepth. AT&T still blows. Apple can’t fix everything.
(06/28)Sustainability Report by Halliburton. LOL!
(06/27)MSNBC anchor refuses to report… well, you know. I’ll tell you what, Mika’s saying what we’re all praying the rest of those “journalists” will say - “I won’t do it.” In other news, her two male co-anchors have no balls whatsoever.
(06/27)White House subpoenaed over eavesdropping. Hmm, anyone else imagining Cheney cackling “release the hounds” to Smithers?
(06/27)Aniimator vs. Animation. Use the bow and arrow!
(06/27)I Am Legend. Will Smith, the last man on Earth, is not alone. DJ Jazzy Jeff apparently hunts him down.
(06/27)Just noticed I lost all my feeds in Google Reader. This is not good. Anyone happen to know what happened?
(06/27)Yes, the Portfolio is still down. An unfortunately side-effect of me not paying attention. It’ll pop back up soon. I love my boss’s response to this, “What? Lookin’ for a job or something?!” Nope. I’m quite happy here, thanks.
(06/27)Super Mario Brothers + Tesla Coils = Coolest fucking thing I’ve seen (and heard) all year.
(06/27)It's so easy to fall into an easy routine. I think we naturally--and subconsciously--look for the path of least resistance. Lately I've found myself slumping further into the couch at the end of the day, watching TV. Not really a big deal, but when it starts becoming your routine it might be time for a self-kick in the trousers.
Blade Runner at 25. To this day, the most realistic depiction of the future I’ve ever encountered on screen.
(06/26)Nirvana’s Nevermind Baby 17. Feeling old. Yup.
(06/26)Biola must have a good web design course. Or just good taste. Nice one.
(06/26)Apple Evolution. Quickly scan your eyes down and right, and keep going into the blank space. Now imagine the future.
(06/25)Alien Abduction Lamp. Why is it always the cows they’re interested in? The burgers?
(06/25)Okay, Everomp is settling into its new home. Wasn't that bad. Stubbed a few toes moving boxes in. Hit my head on the mantle above the fireplace once. Ouch. Other than that, I think any major issues are passed us.
Juicy Temples redesigns. Because Klaus knows, baby.
(06/20)12 years of Zeldman. Unlike a sitcom, it just gets better with age.
(06/20)Subway Drawing by William Anastasi.
(06/18)People and their avatars. Having played (been addicted to) Everquest 5-6 years ago, I always found this fascinating — imagining the person behind the “mask”.
(06/18)Man loses 400lb. This is just amazing, and proofs nothing is impossible as long as you set a goal in life. I remember losing 50 lb. in high school and thinking what an accomplishment that was. I’ve got nothing on this guy.
(06/18)BBC America ads. Liberators on top?
(06/13)Pentagon confirms “gay bomb”. Which solidifies my belief our government works solely for comedians’ material.
(06/12)New Apple site. Sweet mother of pearl, look at the product list at the top. Good stuff!
(06/11)One of my favorite shows ever--The Sopranos--has come to an end. I'm not going to disect the final show, the ending, the final scene. That's for better-versed TV enthusiasts to comment on (Dad?). What sparked my interest to write anything in regards to the show, is the genre itself. Gangsters.
Kid in wheelchair pushed by semi. That about sums it up. I couldn’t help but chuckle at the visual. He’s perfectly alright, thank God. Could you imagine witnessing that? And to think Seinfeld never covered this topic.
(06/08)The Poe Toaster. I personally prefer the Mark Twain Hot Pocket.
(06/08)Indy 4 update: Connery out, retirement in. Can’t blame him. The original Bond at 76 deserves some fun in the retirement sun.
(06/08)All about the London 2012 Olympic logo. I’m really not the type of designer to be critical of other people’s work, but… all I can think about this one is, “Huh?”
(06/07)Ball thrown 100km/h from truck going 100 km/h. Take a guess what happens.
(06/07)Seguro Media Console. Wood texture goodness. Mmm.
(06/04)Jesus Rodriguez Velasco. Damn, nice site. Me jealous.
